Awarded Solar Inverter Contract by Lockheed

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 14, 2010—Polarity Inc. (www.polarity.net), an innovative power-supply manufacturer serving the defense, commercial, cleantech, industrial and medical industries, announced today it has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin NYSE:LMT to provide its solar-inverter technology for deployable airfield power systems commissioned by the U.S. Air Force. Terms of Polarity’s contract were not disclosed.

 

Designed as a mobile unit, Polarity’s solar inverter will help power smart micro grids that reduce airfield-deployment burdens, and improve power availability and efficiency by integrating renewable and other energy sources. In all, the new system, known as the Integrated Smart-BEAR Power System (ISBPS), is expected to reduce fuel consumption by 25 percent, and support modular bases accommodating thousands of troops.
